So, you need to maintain it! Here are 5 key points that should not be overlooked.

Creativity and innovation are the main success factors, not only for businesses, but also for managers and their teams. Research has validated these findings, identifying creativity as the superior leadership skill for businesses.Teams should be encouraged to take risks by bringing in new ideas. The complexities of today's marketplace require innovative solutions. We cannot rely on the same ideas or the same ways of solving problems with the same ideas that we have always relied on.

1-Unleash creativity

Therefore, leaders need to make sure they have the right talent on their teams. But also, that these teams can thrive in an environment that facilitates the generation and expression of innovative thinking, inspiring people to exploit their best ideas and unlimited creative potential. But how can leaders achieve the vision of unleashing the full range of the best ideas within their teams? Here are some strategies for unleashing group creativity:

2-Do not get stuck in a process

Innovation is not driven by processes or systems; it is generated by human talent. Regardless of the procedures in place, only creative trust, the dynamism of individuals, and the collective intelligence of teams enable businesses to cross new boundaries, reveal a better world, and improve the financial results of an organization. If a team is creatively stuck, the first step for leadership is to examine whether the processes around people are holding them hostage in their thoughts. Over-dependence on consistently following the rules can put an end to collaborative brainstorming. Some may feel that they don't have the flexibility to express outside options that go against the standard process and the way things have always been done. If this is the case, try to eliminate the limitations of specific structures during creative sessions, so that everyone can feel more free to contribute without bureaucratic constraints.

3-Facilitate experimentation

Teams that are empowered to be creative are determined, committed, and inspired to do great things, to find ways to improve the lives of customers. Since this is the end goal of any competitive organization, it is becoming essential for today's leaders to provide an appropriate environment for teams to exploit all their creativity and abilities. To facilitate experimentation, encourage people to see what works and what does not work, and to work to create an environment of psychological safety, a leader must speak openly. To unleash creativity, he must encourage conflicts and healthy debates., giving others the ways to explore, take responsibility, and take risks, which can lead to unexpected directions.

4-Reveal the “sticky floors.”

Everyone has the foundations to become creative, which starts with team members believing in themselves as generators of ideas. When a team member believes otherwise, they can quickly become a “sticky floor”: a self-reflective belief or hypothesis that can hinder success. The leader's role in team management is to use emotional intelligence to determine if some team members are unwittingly holding back from exploiting their talents and potential. He must adopt a proactive approach and offer coaching and support to express innovative ideas in his teamwork.

5-Foster a growth mindset

Employees need to be helped to understand how to develop a growth mindset. This term refers to how a person thinks about their own intelligence and learning abilities. People who have a growth mindset have a deep belief that they can improve through their own efforts. They accept setbacks and do not see them as failures, but rather as opportunities to grow and learn through learning that improves progressively. This perspective is the opposite of a fixed mindset, in which people believe that they lack talent and that they cannot change no matter how hard they try. When they encounter a sticky floor related to creativity, leaders should coach team members, by explaining internal conviction. Becoming more creative helps them to continue to develop their skills over time, learn from mistakes, and make improvements. Developing a growth mindset is about helping people move from fear to courage. This leadership challenge requires guiding people to break out of the norm, break old assumptions, and remain open to new opportunities for creative ideas.

The goal of getting your team to think outside the box is not hard to achieve, as is finding ways to innovate more within a group. As a leader, it's important to take a creative approach to get there, just as you would with any other management challenge.
